Under 9 Youth's Knaphill 5 Cougars Youth 2 The boys travelled the short distance to play Knaphill. The boys started well and were soon in control of the game. Knaphill were forced into some desperate defending to keep the boys out. Cougars scored when Jack fired home from the edge of the area. A second soon followed again scored by Jack with another fierce shot. We led 2-0 at half time and looked to have the points in the bag.The second half started in torrential rain; the home side seemed to enjoy these conditions a lot more than our boys and scored two quick goals to draw level. Knaphill now had their heads up and were playing the better football. They went in front when a shot from the edge of the box found the net. Cougars gifted a fourth goal when a pass was played across our goal to a Knaphill striker who slotted home. Despite being rattled the boys tried to get back into the game. Jack made some surging runs down the left and put in some good crosses. Archie was doing the same down the right but none of the crosses were falling to Cougars players. Paolo was battling hard in midfield and almost pulled one back when he hit a fierce shot that was superbly tipped onto the bar by the Knaphill keeper. Knaphill added a fifth goal when a speculative long shot found the net. Full time it ended 5-2 to Knaphill. The boys gifted the points today to Knaphill who clearly wanted the win more than some of our boys did. Lorenzo summed up his feelings after the game; it will be interesting how the boys react. Man of the match went to Jack who scored two great goals and was a constant threat on the wing. Best effort went to Charlie who put in a solid performance at the back.SquadBen, Charlie, Luke, Jack (2), Benito, Paolo, Chris, Archie & Matt
