U9 Colts Match Reports

Woking Cougars were up against division 1 side Hersham EC FC for the first time as they met today for a friendly. Cougars began the game at a very slow pace with Hersham controlling possession and creating chances, the closest of the chances was when there striker broke free from our defence but luckily the shot coasted past the right-hand post. Then approximately 10 minutes later a goal finally came and Hersham took a 1-0 lead. Then incredibly less than 5 minutes later they were 2-0 up as a result of sleepy defending. After that the tempo of the game died right down and literally nothing happened until in the last few minutes of the 1st half we had our first shot on goal a great ball forward from Jamie found Callum who found Harry whose shot went inches wide and literally straight after that the halftime whistle blew the scoreline 2-0 Hersham. The second half began at a frantic pace but this time we were the team creating the chances, including an early second half shot from Max well saved by the goalkeeper. After that spell of possession and chances we took the foot of the peddle and the tempo slowed right down. About 10 minutes later we won a throw in and one of the spectators said ”I fell a goal coming” and that is exactly what happened the throw from Jamie found max who ran forward a few yards and I don’t know if it was a shot but nevertheless it went into the top left corner. That goal proved to be the turning point as we levelled at 2-2 less than 5 minutes later. Then about 10 minutes later another goal came and luckily for us we were the team that scored it a shot from Max was saved by the keeper but the goalkeeper couldn’t t hold it and the ball came out to Jake who just couldn’t miss the rebound the score line Woking Cougars 3 Hersham EC FC 2. After that the tempo the game died down but not for long as Hersham began a break away and it proved worthy of a goal as the ball went from a Cougars corner straight to a Hersham goal the score line now 3-3.After that incredibly we scored again with the next kick of the game a shot from left-back Jamie found its way into the back of the net the score line now read 4-3 to the Cougars. But once again are lead was a short one as the visitors equalised at 4-4.This time there were no goals less than 5 minutes later. We had to wait until the last 10minutes of the game for another goal, when it did come it was Hersham that scored it and that was the only time during the game they took the lead apart from right at the beginning. The score line stayed that way for the rest of the game so a fulltime score line was an unlucky Woking Cougars 4 Hersham EC FC 5. We couldn’t find any games that finished 4-5 so we went back in time for the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham at White Hart Lane which was won by the visiting team like our game.
