An initially defensive setup meant that only Charlie and Harry were up front. However, Colts quickly took on and attacking role and all three backs started to work the wide balls and get them crossed to the midfield players. One such ball from Eddie into the box allowed Harry to push it home for a well-deserved lead.Shortly after the restart, another good ball in from Jamie fell to Harry and an open goal which he took well and coolly slotted home to give us a 0-2 lead. Halliford did not sit back however and kept pressing. Shortly before half time they won a corner. An in-swinger saw William get a hand to it and Charlie a head but neither could keep it out. 1-2 at half time. With the instruction “concentrate” still ringing in their ears, Colts came out with the intention of securing the win with more goals. Callum moved to centre mid where he preceded to make some excellent passes to both left and right sides. However, Halliford were still pressing and begun to pepper our goal with shots despite Charlie and others putting in some strong tackles. William earned his subsequent Man of the Match award with several fantastic saves including a spectacular dive to his right which earned loud applause from everyone including the opposition. With less than 2 minutes to go, Halliford lost our defenders and scored a good goal to make a fair 2-2 scoreline at the final whistle.Colts are playing better football with each week and were a little unlucky to lose this time. They showed better composure and stamina – particularly as we had no substitutes – in the second half which is positive for the future.
