Under 8'sCougars v. Worplesdon: 9th November 2008Match ReportAn early start and a cold morning at Stoughton Primary School. Nick ‘ The Gaffer’ Finney rung the changes for this one… Callum in goal, Louis on pitch, Andrew and Kian on the bench. A good start and some early pressure for Worplesdon; Callum was alert in goal, pulling off some fine saves, and AJ was a rock at the back.Cougars slowly got themselves into the game, with a couple of linkups between Alex and Zak. 12 minutes in though, and Worplesdon scored, the goal coming after the referee had been struck by the ball. The Cougars were not fazed though, and stormed straight back, Zak twisting and jinking before hitting the ball into the top corner – a great goal ( ok, so I’m biased! ). This was quickly followed by a fine strike from Alex, following a quick ball out from Callum – great thinking all round. 5 minutes of injury time were played, but at half-time Cougars led 2-1.For the 2nd half Nathan and Keir came off to be replaced by Kian and Andrew. It was backs-to-the-wall stuff for the Cougars as Worplesdon largely dominated possession,but they were kept at bay by some good goalkeeping from Callum until a deflection from a corner levelled the scores. The parents were getting nervous on the side, Alex and Zak went close, but nobody could get that winning goal. Final score: 2-2; Man of the Match: Callum. Well played everyone
