U82Under 8'sSunday 5th October Frimley Green Eagle 5 Woking Cougars 2 Torrential rain greeted the Cougars as they took to the field in Frimley against a team that are regarded as one of the best in the division. The team was set up with Callum in goal, AJ and Louis at the back, Andrew and Kian in midfield, with Zak and Alex upfront. The game started brightly for Cougars, certainly not being overrun by the Frimley team that passed the ball nicely and worked lots of good possession. As always, AJ and Louis were concrete in defence which afforded the opposition very few opportunities until they scored with a relatively sloppy goal. Cougars response was immense with Kian running the midfield and absolutely refusing to let anyone past him. Their resolution was rewarded when a long ball up field resulted in Zak fighting for control before finding not only space, but the back of the net. Very soon afterwards, determination again paid off when Kian challenged hard and was rewarded with the second goal of the game. The half ended strongly with Alex shooting from distance only to see his shot fly past the goalkeepers right hand post, indeed Cougars could have gone in 3-1 up at half time had it not been for the referees timely blowing for the half, as Cougars rained down on Goal. Changes were made at half time with Callum being replaced in goal by AJ, keir, Nathan and Joseph coming on for Andrew and Kian. However, as AJ had been a such a rock defensive in the first half, his presence in goal meant that Frimley found it easier to penetrate the Cougars defence and the resulting 15min saw Frimley net 3 more goals to give them a flattering victory, for the second year running. Cougars continued to press with a lot of play coming down the right wing, unfortunately, none of these resulted in any real opportunity although the referee did not blow for a clear penalty when one of the home team handled in the box. Credit must go to all the boys for never giving up and playing their hearts out, in what was not very pleasant conditions. Kian was quite rightly awarded Man of the match for an outstanding first half which saw him controlling the midfield and restricting the Frimley team to very few chances, well played Kian U8 Home page 27WOKING COUGARSThe Football Family http://www.surreyfa.co.uk/ http://www.splsoccer.com http://www.scgl.co.uk/ http://www.make-a-wish.org.uk/ http://www.wphfc.co.uk http://www.jalosty.co.uk http://www.psrcoaching.co.ukThis website was created using MAGIX Website Maker You will need the current version of Adobe Flash Player to view it.
