More pressure came from the Cougars after a cross from Jack M was quickly snatched away by the MC GK from a waiting Jamie. Another tempting cross came in from Sid on the right working MC GK, just before Jamie launched a perfectly placed cross from the left wing to a waiting Aidan who scored to make it 0-2. MC weren’t without their chances and decided to lift a long ball over our defence, however it was confidently collected by Callum, as was the free kick that MC were awarded shortly after. Sid decided to make it 0-3 with a long run on the right, placing the ball nicely in the back of the net. Adam worked tirelessly along the right wing, running the length of the pitch and crossing a tempting ball to Benn who shot just wide, taking an injury in doing so. MC again decided to take a chance with Jack P heading away a ball only as far as another MC player, yet Jack P intercepted again to coolly pass to AJ who picked the perfect pass to Adam creating another Cougar attack which resulted in a Jamie cross to Sid who half- volleyed it home (get me with the football terminology! ) great goal 0-4. Another MC break was thwarted by a confident Martin along with Owen who had tracked back to defend. A spell of play in the middle of the park followed - AJ’s head denying another overhead attack from MC, which was quickly followed by George’s first goal 0-5. A little bit of defending was required by the Cougars with Jack P, Harry, Martin and Adam all staying calm under pressure. A free kick was conceded from a hand ball which MC launched towards our goal, just going wide, although Callum looked to have it covered. Some brave goal keeping followed by the MC GK. With George hungry for his second the GK dived to George’s feet denying the goal, however following some neat passing from the Cougars it wasn’t long before Adam set up George 0-6. MC never gave up and nearly got their first goal, with a very brave Callum committing to a one on one with a MC attacker we saw Harry step in with some awesome defending to keep a clean sheet in the first half.Half–time – the boys had a quick team chat with Liam, JP and the oranges, whilst I was subjected to more waffle from the 3 Amigos (aka Tony FERGUSON, Paul WENGER and dodgy Dean DALGLISH!)The second half started pretty much as the first half ended. A short spell of MC attack saw Harry clear for a throw in and it wasn’t long before the first goal of this half was supplied by Benn 0-7. With a MC player injured we again saw the sporting Liam reduce the team to 9 to match MC. Tempting cross after tempting cross were supplied from both sides of the pitch, Owen running continuously offering perfectly placed crosses into the box just waiting for someone to pop them away, and it wasn’t long before George got his hat trick 0-8, shortly followed by a superb lob from Aidan, giving the keeper no chance, making it 0-9.At no point did MC give up or let their heads go down and they battled and defended tirelessly with their keeper being forced to make some great saves, including a long shot from AJ and another attack from Benn. Following some positional changes from the boss the game opened up a little for the MC attackers and they took a couple of chances to run at Callum, however Sid kept the back of the pitch in check. The next goal creation came from AJ who looked up, placed the ball precisely at Owens feet who crossed a peach of a ball (not sure whether peach is politically correct in the world of football…but it’s my match report so….) a peach of a ball into the box taking a poor MC player by surprise and in for an own goal - 0-10. Another brave save from Callum at the feet of a MC attacker ensured that his sheet stayed clean!! More and more crosses were getting into the MC box resulting in a Jamie cross to Jack M’s head which glanced just over the cross bar. Harry decided to show his skills with a cheeky step over to fool the defenders followed by a shot which hit the post and deflected out to Benn to score his second goal 0-11. The final goal of the game came again from Owen charging down the wing placing the ball perfectly onto Jack M’s six pack which he chested in with pride, 0-12!. Final whistle blew.Liam was pleased with the boys discipline and passing this week.Moment of the Match – Jamie for staying strong and using his strength throughout the game.Man of the Match – Benn for his persistent attacking of the ball, in particular coming in from crosses.
