U11 Youth Match Reports

Surrey Premier LeagueSunday 27th NovemberFarncombe Youth Allstars 0 Woking Cougars Youth 5A mild day with a low sun resulting in Callum borrowing his mums headgear and a game played on a heavy holding pitch (where are the sprinklers you see in the Premiership?) which played havoc with Liam's footwear! A smaller pitch than we have played on before with 9 a side goals (3/4 size). Another full squad to choose from (dedicated boys and parents!) against a side with one sub. We started Callum; Adam Harry AJ Martin; Sid Aidan Jamie Lewis; George Benn.We were quick off the mark going into an early lead, a Lewis cross, flick by George and a Sid finish. Harry had a shot saved, an effort from Lewis was blocked on the line, a bobbling ball cleared from Sid, this was an all Cougars start. Youth were having trouble getting the corners to stay on the pitch rather than going straight out. Jamie was enjoying the central midfield role and picking his passes well. Adam hit a long shot before Callum was called into action making a save. Lewis hit a shot, Harry made a good clearance and Callum managed to punt a goal kick towards the opposition box. The second goal was neat finishing by George with a clever flick from a Lewis cross. AJ, George and Jamie off, Owen on up front with Jack M and Jack P also on. Sid was back doing defensive duties to clear twice. Lewis, Benn and George combined well to force a good save. Adam made a great covering tackle as the last defender. Another good cross and save and Sid having an effort blocked and the follow up saved. A really good save from a Sid cross had both sets of parents clapping the keeper. Youth went 3 up with Benn hitting a shot which rattled the woodwork and Lewis finished it off nicely. Half time.Youth started the second half well with Liam's orders to "fill your boots". Benn hit over from close range and Aidan went on a good run to feed Sid whose shot was saved well. Harry hit over from an Owen corner. Harry was playing well, strong when outmuscling the forward to relieve him of the ball and being involved in an attack where he shot at the goalie. Callum found himself one on one with their striker and he was out smartly to block and the defence, especially Jack P, somehow kept the follow up out for a corner. Lewis Benn and Harry off, AJ, George and Jamie on. George hit over and Jack M had a shot producing a good save. The second half followed the first half pattern of the lino constantly raising his flag sometimes before the ball had been played. Youth went 4 up when Martin hit a pile driver which deflected in. Callum narrowed down the angle to force an Allstars shot wide and followed up with a scrambled save, the team determined to keep a clean sheet. Sid, Adam and Martin off; Lewis, Benn and Harry on. Benn playing left back and Lewis right wing. Adam came back on following Jack M receiving the ball in his face. The fifth came from a George tap in. And there was time for a good AJ tackle. Final whistle went. Moment of the match was for Adam making his last ditch tackle.Man of the match was Harry who kept the ball close to him, was strong in the tackle and distributed well.
