Mayford broke well and Callum making an early save. Benn had a good effort just wide before a Lewis cross and a George header beautifully cushioned went into the net for 1-0. Aidan and Jack M were controlling the midfield with Lewis and Sid good outlets. Mayford countered and played the ball through but Callum cleared on the edge of his box. Sid, ever dangerous and full of power from his pre season training camp in the wilds of Scotland went down the right crossed for Benn to score. Cougars kept the pressure on, Alfie heading away. Youth were playing great passing football but Mayford broke well and Callum made a save from another break. George playing well against his old club broke well and only a good tackle stopped him from scoring. Mayford broke well again with Callum saving for a corner, the first of 3 successive corners creating Mayford pressure that Youth defended well at. Jamie came on for Lewis, Owen for Benn and Harry for Jack P and Jamie got on the score sheet almost immediately attacking down the left flank and getting a deflected goal. Cougars went 4 up almost immediately with the dubious goals panel awarding the goal to Jack M as Mayford were struggling to clear constant Youth pressure. Just before half time Aidan scrambled the ball in for a half time score of 5-0.After the oranges, Youth lined up: Callum (gk) Adam (rb) Martin (lb) Harry and AJ (cb) Lewis (rm) Jamie (lm) Aidan and Jack M (cm) George and Owen (str) Jack got a great tackle in on ex Cougar James Spencer and set up a great move with Jack, Martin, Owen and Jamie all involved. Owen went on a great run ghosting past defenders before laying off for Aidan to slot his second. Owen was causing carnage down the left and was hard for Mayford to defend against forcing another corner. Jack P came on for AJ and Benn for George. Aidan had a huge shot from an Owen pass just wide. Mayford then attacked, Cougars missed 2 opportunities to clear and the ball was steered nicely past Callum. Callum then intercepted on the edge of the box as Mayford built up a head of steam and the pressure told with a second goal hit hard into the net. Callum managed to clear another attack before a 3rd for Mayford hit well. Sid came on for Lewis. Youth continued to pass well and stemmed the comeback with Jamie chasing the ball down well and setting Owen up for the crucial score to make it 7-3. A scramble followed from a corner Sid created and then Sid followed up with another great cross, Youth showing that the best form of defense is to attack. Lewis came on for Jack M going left mid with Jamie moving to centre mid. Jamie supplied a good cross for Sid to make it 8 and Sid went on another rampaging run down the right (the left back will have slept well!). The final goal was probably the best, Jamie with a lovely clipped cross shot into the top corner. A truly great start to the season. Moment of the match: Jack P who ran the whole length of the pitch to chase down and get the ball to stop a goal. Man of the match: Owen who got his tackles in, provided great crosses and put in a shift Woking Cougars FC To see all content, you will need the current version of Adobe Flash Player to view it. |
