U13 Girls Season 2007 / 2008

What a season that was ! A massive improvement in all the girls from last season performances saw them being pipped on the final day of the season for the league title by Aldershot Town on goal difference.

The final score was Aldershot 3 Cougars 3 with Aldershot equalising through a highly disputed penalty.

The team can't be too disappointed though as they all played fantastically well throughout the entire season and just goes to prove that if you train hard and well it pays off on the pitch.

A big big thank you to both Paul and Kim Burns for their tireless efforts in making this all possible.

Roll on next year !!!!

11/11/2007 - Cougars 4 Old Walcountians 3

Remembrance Day and a match to remember ! Two of the three unbeaten teams in the league went head to head in an exciting game watched by a capacity crowd at Brewery Road. Both sides played well in the first half with the scores being level at 2 goals a piece. Manager Paul Burns reminded the team of what the day meant and so into battle they went and ended up winning the day with a hat trick from Girl of the Game Georgina and a goal from Lara.

4/11/2007 - Cougars U13 Girls 4 AFC Kingstonians 1

Whisper it quietly but the Cougar girls are now starting to look as if the early season form is no fluke. The saying goes that the league table is no lie and therefore manager Paul Burns must be pleased with the position of joint top. This match was going to be difficult after a break of a couple of weeks and against the run of play Kingstonians went a goal up with the defence of Rosie, Nadine, Ellis, Eric and the goalkeeper Sonia at 6's and 7's as the ball hit the post and trickled into the net.

Slowly the midfield of Steph, Georgia, Becky, Lauren and Sophie were putting their training into practice and "wedgies" were being pulled all over the park. This allowed the front two of Lara and Georgina to see plenty of the ball and eventually a goal a piece saw the Cougars come in a goal in front at 2-1.

The half time talk of "he who laughs last" did the trick and with a last cry of "COUGARS" the team let their skills do the talking.

Two more goals from Lara and Georgina saw the 3 points secured and continued the unbeaten start to the season.

Girl of the Game Georgina.
